Hazardous Waste

If any of your waste is classified as Hazardous waste, then in addition to your general waste requirements you need to comply with the following:

• Hazardous waste must not be mixed with general waste, and you cannot mix different types of hazardous waste together
• Hazardous waste cannot be disposed of in the general municipal mixed waste
• Keep records for 3 years of your consignment notes and any returns notes or other paperwork (and the consignment notes need a more detailed description than general waste)
• Waste may only be taken to an authorised waste site that can handle your class(es) of waste
• In Wales, if you produce more than 500kg of Hazardous waste a year, you need to register with Natural Resources Wales
