Miscellaneous Notes

• Kiln shelves 22" square. 12mm / ½" shelves are too thin and bow on high firings
• Bat wash - 2kg (dry) needed to coat all shelves and props used in a firing. Recipe I used is 1000g aluminium hydrate, 500g kaolin, 500g calcined kaolin, 50g feldspar. Kaolin was heated at 60°C/hr to 800°C and then soaked for 2 hours.
